Artist Statement
My paintings are expressionistic, featuring various themes that I am drawn towards that inspire me to create images in landscape, figurative, and detail studies of nature. When I paint I explore bright rich colors with varying brush strokes that are spontaneous and fluid while thinking of light, shape and composition. I use sweeping paint and layers of color together to create my interpretations.
I draw from many sources of imagery as I continually take trips into nature to paint and study in a real life setting. Much of my inspiration comes from many sources including, drives out in the country and viewing an old farm scene with horses, a beautiful plant with unusual leave patterns, to markings on koi fish, as well as figurative studies in a market place. Even the view of the mountains from my back yard give me excitement to paint. Wherever my travels take me, I see endless sights that continue to entice and encourage me to express myself through paint.
